This is a question that I get asked all the time.
The answer is: yes and no.
Clarks shoes are great for outdoorsy people that live in/near nature and need to be able to trek through muddy trails, get soaked in swampy marshlands, or walk on rocky ground without breaking their
ankles- but they can be too uncomfortable for people who need a more cushioned shoe for daily wear. They make some good 'everyday' shoes like the Clarks Desert Boot- but again it depends on what you want out of your boots.
of course, they do make other shoes that are good for everyday wear: such as the Clarks Wallabee
If you want to buy a pair of Clarks shoes, stick with a style that has a slip-resistant sole. This will protect you from slipping [and falling] on smooth and wet surfaces.
Be cautious when buying knock-offs since they may not provide the same comfort and durability as real Clarks shoes.
Added November 16th- From user's comment: "Found on clarkssociety.com website today, actual text from Steve Murray mentioned below." "The company line is that they may not replace them in the future, and it will also impact their warranty policy. Apparently they are going to stop manufacturing "unwanted" styles (callouts like the usual review comments above), which could be due to poor sales of those shoes."
